Loaf is a friendly place for pets and the people who love them. These guidelines keep it that way. They're part of our Terms of Service.

1. Keep it about pets

Loaf is for photos and short videos of cats, dogs and other pets. People can be in your posts, but the pets are the stars. Posts that have nothing to do with pets may be removed.

2. Be kind

Treat people the way you'd want to be treated. Disagreeing is fine; bullying, harassing, threatening or ganging up on someone isn't. Don't post hateful things about anyone because of who they are, such as their race, religion, sex, gender, sexuality or disability.

3. Never allowed

These aren't allowed for anyone, whatever their age:

  • nudity, pornography or anything sexual;
  • anything that encourages, promotes or explains suicide, self-harm or eating disorders;
  • violence, gore or graphic injuries, of people or animals;
  • hurting, neglecting or frightening animals, including "pranks";
  • dangerous stunts or challenges, or encouraging anyone to take harmful substances;
  • hate, bullying, harassment or threats;
  • anything illegal, including child sexual abuse material, terrorism content and intimate images shared without consent.

If you see something that worries you about someone's safety, report it. If someone is in danger right now, call 999. If you're struggling yourself, you can talk to Samaritans for free, any time, on 116 123.

Loaf is based in the UK, so these are UK phone numbers. If you're outside the UK, call your local emergency number, or find a free helpline in your country at findahelpline.com.

4. Respect people's privacy

  • Only post photos and videos you took, or have permission to post.
  • Don't post people, especially children, who can be recognised and haven't agreed to it.
  • Don't share anyone's private information, such as their address, phone number or school.
  • Don't pretend to be someone else.

5. No selling, spam or scams

  • No buying, selling, giving away or rehoming animals. If you need to rehome a pet, please use a rescue or rehoming charity.
  • No adverts, spam, chain messages or links designed to trick people.
  • One account each, and no fake accounts.

6. What happens when rules are broken

Every report is checked by a person. Depending on what happened, a moderator may leave things as they are, warn you, or remove what you posted. They may also give a strike:

  • First strike: no posting, commenting or liking for 24 hours.
  • Second strike: the same, for 7 days.
  • Third strike: a permanent ban. The email address can't be used to join again.

Strikes don't expire. You'll always be told what was done and why. Something illegal leads straight to the account being suspended and reported to the police or the National Crime Agency. Accounts of people under 13 are deleted.

7. Reporting and appeals

Press Report on a post, comment, profile or pet. The person isn't told who reported them. You can also block anyone (see Help), and they aren't told.

Think a decision about you was wrong? Choose Appeal this decision on the notice in your notifications, use Contact us in Settings > Help, or email support@loafsocial.net. We reply within 14 days. More detail is in the Terms of Service.
